Gentlemen’s Lounge

We created this masculine living room using rich leather chairs with nailheads, and two other chairs with an accent back fabric in a caviar damask pattern. The chairs surround a round glass and antique Brass cocktail table, and a Turkish pattern rug ties the sitting area together. Grasscloth wallpaper adds a rich ambience, and caramel silk draperies bring a touch of glam to the space.

Project Overview:

We were inspired by a black Italian accent chair, the gilded mirror, and heavy iron sculpture that he’d had forever. There are plenty of windows and windowed doors, but little wall space. And there were difficult to work with corners and notches. Our client had a new German Shepherd puppy, Maya, and her coloring helped inspire the color palette of the room.

Gentlemen’s Lounge

Our vision was a gentleman’s sitting room where guests can “wait in the sitting room, or sit in the waiting room.” A masculine space, bold, but luxe, our specialty!

We created a layout of individual chairs in a conversational arrangement (many men prefer their own chairs). We selected tall, rich leather and antique brass nailhead wing chairs for the far wall, and much shorter barrel chairs nearer the door, with mink woven inner fabric and bold pattern outer fabric, making a statement as you look into the room.

Caramel silk drapery panels on Old Gold hardware add drama and lead the eye to the deep white trim molding.

A dark washed grey chest with brass accents is the “gentleman’s bar”, and paired with the black accent chair in the large front window, makes an impressive statement. An antique gold and glass coffee table adds clear relief to the dark furniture colors and bronze chandelier. We painted the entire fireplace the charcoal slate color of the existing surround, which makes an impressive backdrop to the mirror. The client loves the muted brown and mink rug (because Maya cannot unravel it). We had included rich grasscloth wallpaper in our design, but the client was unusually hesitant. Right before the Reveal was planned, he capitulated, we had it installed and now he loves it!
